Role Overview:

A Test Analyst/Lead is required for our higher education client to support a large-scale network replacement project.

This role will be instrumental in planning, executing, and reporting on User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and end-user device testing, ensuring minimal disruption to staff, faculty, and students. You will also contribute to data analysis for Building Discovery for the locations to be cutover, test plan development and the creation of test scripts tailored to complex environments.

You will work with Network engineers, Third Parties and Technical Service Managers to hands on test and co-ordinate Business Verification along with defect investigation and triage, where needed.

 

**Hybrid working arrangements - For this role you will be required to be onsite 3 days per week with 2 days remote working (however, this may vary based on testing requirements)**

 

Essential Skills & Experience required:

 

  • Proven experience as a Test Analyst/Lead or similar role in infrastructure or network-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of UAT and experience working with non-technical user groups.
  • Knowledge of end-user device testing, particularly in heterogeneous environments.
  • Ability to design and execute manual test cases and interpret technical requirements.
  • Competent in data analysis using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills: test scripts, reports, defect logs
  • Solid working knowledge of Excel, spreadsheets, and basic data analysis
  • A proactive, user-focused mindset with strong attention to detail

 

 

Desirable

  • Experience in large-scale academic or public sector IT projects.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure concepts (LAN, Wi-Fi, DNS, etc.).
  • ISTQB Foundation or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with accessibility and assistive technologies in testing environments

 

Duties include:

To develop comprehensive test plans for UAT and End User Device testing

Liaise with stakeholders, including IT and administrative staff to define test objectives and acceptance criteria

Ensure test coverage for diverse device types and operating systems (Windows, MAC OS, iOS, Android Printers, VOIP, Security systems etc. across the organisation

UAT - Coordinate and execute UAT (defined as Smoke and Business Verfification Testing) across multiple departments and user groups

Facilitate UAT sessions, log issues and feedback and work with technical teams for resolution

Support business users in navigating test processes and documenting results

 

End User Device Testing

  • Test network connectivity, user performance, and compatibility across various end-user devices.
  • Simulate common use cases (e.g., Managed devices, AV, VOIP, security equipment, lecture streaming, remote access, lab software) to validate functionality post-network changes.
  • Monitor and record device-specific issues during transition phases.

. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse test data and user feedback to identify trends, issues, or gaps.
  • Produce clear, actionable test reports for technical teams and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to go/no-go decision-making with evidence-based reporting.

Defect & Issue Management

  • Log defects using appropriate tools (e.g., JIRA, Halo).
  • Track issue resolution and re-test fixes to ensure quality and functionality
