Project Overview
A Software Tooling Analyst (SC Cleared) is required for our public sector client who do not have an effective software system to track renewals and/or manage reporting for the software applications; and as a result, manual interventions are not viable and proving to be unreliable.
Therefore, an exercise is needed to undertake analysis of the current software applications, with considerations to the most appropriate SAM tooling solution for monitoring and reporting to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
Preparatory work is required before the client can effectively scope and implement SAM tooling to create cost efficiencies and also provide governance for software applications on the clients estate. For this we first need to discover what types of applications we currently have and which are redundant, including the different software models provided that can be made compatible with Service Now i.e. licensing, subscriptions, certificates and CMDB.
Technology skill set required for this role is: Software applications, MS Intune, Azure AD, ServiceNow fundamentals, Software Asset Management tooling
As the Software Tooling Analyst you will support the requirement of understanding what applications are existing and to streamline existing approach, building a software catalogue, with a view to advise on the best approach to SAM tooling that is compatible with ServiceNow.
You will be required to advise on timeframe and the scope of work will include analysing existing Apps and providing a software catalogue that aligns with existing services to improve efficacy of software Apps on the estate, that can then be maintained.
Also the introduction of any improvements that can be utilised within ServiceNow and the CMDB.
As the Software Tooling Analyst your key outcomes and deliverables for this piece of work will include:
- Discovery and analysis of existing software applications across the IT estate
- Identify any redundant applications to be retired
- Identify and create software models/types/ sub categories
- Identify best practice for reporting
- Build a software catalogue within Service Now with consideration to the required assignment groups
- Advise on any SAM tooling recommendations
- Ensure alignment of CMDB of existing software and the new software catalogue and associated reporting.
