Role Overview:

A Head of Supplier Relationship Management is required for our public sector client to help deliver world-leading commercial partnerships with digital and data suppliers whose products or services power the technology within UK public sector.

You will lead the building of strong partnerships with major technology firms both in the UK and overseas to enable digital and data teams within the public sector to build great technology.

As the Head of Supplier Relationship Management you will help shape and support digital markets by setting supplier strategy and working with suppliers to deliver it. Also to support commercial deals, provide governance and ensure maximum value from agreements put in place, whether with hyperscalers or smaller suppliers across the digital landscape. This may include influencing key stakeholders within supplier organisations to co-invest in initiatives with public sector customers or with the clients digital team/department to accelerate the delivery of their digital transformation ambitions.

You will work across a diverse supplier landscape from large global technology firms and high value deals to the emergent scale up and SME markets. This is a specialist role to influence how the client buys and uses strategic technology.

Essential Skills & Experience required:

As the Head of Supplier Relationship Management you will possess:

Current SC Level Security Clearance is highly advantageous

 Experience and knowledge of leading broad and complex strategic work across systems, with an ability to think strategically and bring clarity and structure to uncertainty when developing policy and processes. 

 

An ability to translate complex and broad material - both qualitative and quantitative - into clear written or oral analysis and communications, including briefings and presentations;  

 

Excellent quality in delivery and an ability to operate effectively and flexibly in a fast paced, political and complex environment. 

 

Experience working with suppliers, ideally technology suppliers. 

 

Skilled in establishing and maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships, and credibly engaging with and influencing senior leaders and external influencers. 

 

Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop a team to deliver new and ambitious priorities.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and own their digital supplier strategy and relationships, developing, launching, iterating and implementing them in partnership with commercial colleagues and other stakeholders—for major suppliers, emerging technology suppliers to government/public sector, and/or the SME market.  
  • Work regularly and closely with ministers, senior officials and digital, data and technology leaders across the business to support the effective purchasing and investments of key strategic technologies of the public sector. This will include providing flexible, agile strategic support as demands and events require it. 
  • Support specific public sector department colleagues to design and implement effective business plans that maximally utilise their strategic partnerships with suppliers, through the right strategic input. 
  • Provide strategic support to business units, as they shape their plans.

Partner closely with government agencies and other departmental colleagues, inputting into supplier and contract governance processes
