Rate: £500 per day

Overview
We require an experienced Systems Administrator to support a major cyber security and operational technology (OT) uplift programme within a regulated environment.
This role will focus on secure configuration, system management, and the integration of key technologies across a complex infrastructure. You will play a key role in strengthening security posture, improving system hardening practices, and supporting the roll out of critical security tools already in progress.
Essential Skills & Experience:
As the Systems Administrator you will possess the following:
A trong background in IT systems administration (HND level or equivalent experience)
• Hands-on experience with:
- Windows Server, Linux (RedHat preferred), SQL Server
- Networking (Cisco routers/switches, TCP/IP)
• Experience managing and configuring Active Directory
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience working within structured frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
Desirable:
• Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. NIS-CAF)
• Knowledge of OT environments, including:
- SCADA systems
- PLCs and telemetry systems
- Kerberos
• Understanding of industrial process control systems
• Awareness of Health & Safety and CDM regulations
• Experience within utilities or infrastructure sectors
Key Responsibilities inlcude:
To support cyber programme activities, delivering infrastructure changes aligned to recognised security frameworks (e.g. E-CAF), across:
- Windows & Linux servers
- SQL databases
- Network infrastructure (including Cisco)
- WAN services and data centres
• Improve system patching and secure configuration in line with vulnerability management standards
• Drive system hardening best practices, including:
- Development and deployment of “gold build” standards
- Retrofitting security controls to existing systems
• Investigate and resolve incidents and problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business-critical systems
• Support the roll out and configuration of security technologies, including:
- Network intrusion detection systems
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
- Enterprise backup solutions
• Collaborate on documentation for secure management of IT and security tooling within an OT environment
• Ensure robust User Acceptance Testing (UAT) prior to system releases
• Strengthen Identity & Access Management processes, including Joiner/Mover/Leaver workflows
• Support implementation and ongoing management of Active Directory, including identity governance
• Manage system changes within an ITIL-based framework
• Work with internal teams and third-party suppliers to implement cyber and physical security controls
• Deliver work in line with governance standards, project timelines, cost, and quality expectations
• Able to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment
