Lead Technologist
Duration: 6 Months
Location: London & remote (hybrid)
Rate: £675 per day
IR35 Status: Inside
Start: ASAP
Role Overview:
A Lead Technologist is required for our Government client to support the creation and delivery of public sector legacy technology strategy and gain endorsement.
You will identify and develop existing principles, standards, best practice and assurance approaches and promote them.
You will work with vendors to maximise their offer to the public sector, and help upskill others across the public sector in your work and technology modernisation practices.
The Client is responsible for driving digital transformation focused on users. They help build and maintain common platforms, products and tools for others to use and create great public services that are both accessible and easy to use.
Essential Skills & Experience required:
As the Lead Technologist you will possess the following:
- Experience supporting the setting and delivery on a vision and leading digital and data change, with specific focus on service and technology modernisation
 - Experience designing and building technology and be able to use this to build credibility with others, evaluate proposals and decide an execution approach
 - Proficient in engaging with suppliers/vendors both formally and informally
 - Create written content and present to senior stakeholders, both technical (such as CTOs / CDOs across Government) and non-technical
 - Be keen to share your learning with those around you through coaching and mentoring
 - Understand the opportunities and issues delivering digital services and/or technology in government and the wider public sector
 
T Technical skills
- You will be at the top skill levels in your Digital & Data specialism, most likely from the Architecture group, with experience across Data, IT Operations or Software Development.
 - Also hold relevant industry certifications eg: AWS or MS Azure
 
Possess on premise application modernisation, which range across any technology provider, taking old legacy and re-purposing for public cloud
Understand dependencies of operational support and commercial process for outsourcing
End to end lifecycle management and legacy modernisation
Experience of leading end-to-end technology and/or digital service modernisation
Technical skills - nice to have would be any Oracle, VMWare or Hyper-V
Agile delivery
An understanding of Government commercial framework
