Rate: £550 per day

Role Overview:

We require a PMO Manager (SC Clearance preferred) for our public sector client who are currently forming a PMO team which will be responsible for driving project governance, strategic planning and operational efficiency within a specific business directorate.  The teams core mandate includes leading the development of business cases, drafting detailed statements of work and overseeing the PMO function to ensure projects are monitored effectively, reported and aligned with strategic goals. The team also focuses on continuous improvement, resource planning and quality assurance whilst cultivating strong stakeholder relationships to support delivery priorities across the portfolio.

Essential Skills & Experience required:

SC Clearance  - highly desirable

Proven track record of success in project and program management, with experience in various industries.

Possess previous experience of setting up a PMO office 

Business case generation/creation experience

Skilled in communication, leadership, and problem-solving.

A deep understanding of project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).

Ability to use metrics to quantify impact and demonstrate achievements (e.g., increased project success rate, reduced project cycle time, delivered cost savings).

Experience in leading project teams, nurturing a collaborative team environment, and mentoring junior staff in project management methodologies.

Excellent stakeholder management/engagement skills

Able to work independently

Confident and effective communication skills, and able to provide regular reports and governance support

 

Responsibilities include:

Lead the development and writing of comprehensive business cases to justify project needs, outlining costs, benefits, and risks.

Draft and manage detailed statements of work (SOWs) that clearly define project scope, requirements, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.

Oversee the Program Management Office (PMO) function, ensuring effective project governance, monitoring, and reporting of overall progress against strategic plans.

Develop and structure processes to continually improve the productiveness of the PMO, demonstrate value, and better support the organisation and its clients.

Build and maintain good, effective relationships with all stakeholders.

Support quality assurance of projects and products.

Help manage resource planning and reallocation of resources to meet delivery priorities across the portfolio.
