Role Overview:

We require a Lead Technical Architect for our Government client to be part of their Cyber Services team to support the delivery of cyber actions plan by coordinating, overseeing and delivering services as required.

The services they provide are where automation and economies of scale can be applied to address common resilience and cyber problems. These cover the core internet services such as DNS, email and web services, as well as vulnerability management, cyber testing and cyber capability uplift.

As the Lead Technical Architect in the Cyber Services team you will design, assure and govern secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions predominantly hosted on Microsoft Azure.

This role requires architectural leadership across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments to support the delivery of critical public services  and aligned to the digital, data and technology standards (DDatT),  technology code of practice and NCSC security principles.

You will work closely with multiple business stakeholders, delivery teams, third party security vendors and other architects to translate user and policy needs into robust technical designs that are cost effective, secure and fit for purpose.

 

Essential Skills & Experience required:

As the Lead Technical Architect you will possess strong experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure, and appropriate understanding of:

Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity.

Identity and access management (Azure AD / Entra ID).

Application hosting, containers, and microservices.

Monitoring, logging, and operational support.

Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.

Modern software architectures (API-led, event-driven, microservices).

Making architectural decisions

Strategy design and implementation

Technical design throughout the lifecycle

Cloud and infrastructure

Architecture and design

Security and compliance: designing solutions in line with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and cloud security principles

Azure Active Directory (AD)

Azure SQL

Entra ID

Cloud networking, hybrid connectivity and application hosting

Any understanding of Government assurance and experience using automation tools e.g: M365, DSC, Maestr, Powershell or Power BI are desirable

Any knowledge of NCSC's secure cloud architecture, AWS and Google Cloud Platforms would be nice to have as would any knowledge of GDS service standards.
